A product of Daly College Indore, Sydenham College Mumbai and Wharton USA, Manish Kalani is the man responsible for the transformation of the Indore based Kalani Group from a small business house to a respectable business conglomerate by establishing the largest packaging industry (FIBC) of Asia and one of the largest Cement Pressure Pipe and Cement Sheet Manufacturing capacities of India in the early part of his career.
Today, he heads EWDPL as the Managing Director and is guiding and driving the Company in achieving his vision of becoming the largest Shopping Mall Developer and Operator in Tier-II and emerging cities of the country. Focusing on the Tier II and emerging cities, Kalani is poised to ensure that all its developed and managed properties stack up to the international standards of maintenance and functionality.
He says that “the upcoming projects will not only raise the level of retailing to newer heights, but give a whole new dimension to mall development and management culture in the country. These centers of shopping exuberance will make headlines and be the talking points. These will be the ultimate destinations for serious shoppers, casual diners, cinema enthusiasts and people from all age-groups as well as from all walks-of-life, giving the Tier II cities lots more to look up to”.
EWDPL has an ambitious plan of developing 14 Shopping Malls, 12 hotels, 3 Residential Townships, Commercial Office space, IT Parks/SEZ and Warehouses, in India by 2012. His first venture the ‘TREASURE ISLAND’ Indore is already a success story in itself and an IIM Kolkata case study. The property is the first shopping mall of Central India, and the first mall in a Tier-II town. Kalani is of the firm belief that the Tier-II and emerging cities have latent spending power but is currently not being tapped by quality retail product offerings.
Manish enjoys trekking, scuba diving, snooker and Squash in his leisure.
