Jabalpur is the third largest city of Madhya Pradesh after Indore & Bhopal, also known as ammunition capital of the nation. Located in Mahakaushal region across the banks of river Narmada, it is the divisional headquarter of 8 districts, head-quarter of State Electricity Board and army headquarter of five states (MP, Chattisgarh, Orissa, Bihar and Jharkhand).
Known for picturesque marble rock formations (Bhedaghat), Jabalpur has highly-fertile lands & dense forests. With 15.32 lac urban population, 3.9 lac households and 82.47% literacy rate, Jabalpur has developed economy.
City has three army regimental centres and four ordinance factories. Apart from these, it is also home of diversified manufacturing units like apparels, tobacco, electrical goods, lime stone base, food processing, glassware, telephone parts, metallurgical, Shaw Wallace Gelatin Factory, Simplex Steel Structures, Commercial Engineers & Body Builders Co Limited (CEBBCO) etc.
The dominant presence of public and private sector with high agricultural production makes Jabalpur, a city of emerging consumption. Around Rs 700 crore has been granted for development of this city in JNNURM project. It’s educational institutes and colleges attract youths from neighboring districts. Work participation ratio of 30.5% and a rapidly rising population points out towards the necessity of a world-class retail outlet.
